I just cannot describe how excited I got when they first announced the Yii 4k+ camera. It is world’s first camera to shoot in 4k at 60 frames. So you can slow down your video without any quality loss. As usual, it takes a lot of time for any new release to reach the Indian market. But finally last month I got my copy of Yii 4k+ & let me tell you why I am so excited about it.
Luckily the day I got it we planned a hiking trip to Jatashankar. Jatashankar is a beautiful Shiv temple located in Girnar forest, Junagadh. Also, Monsoon is a perfect time to visit Jatashankar for little adventure. I managed to get some shots that day. And I have created this video which you can watch here –

About the camera –
I am not putting a complete review here, but I will just highlight some of the good features & some improvements they can offer. If you are serious about videos, especially sports video or vlogging you must try this.

Pros of Yii 4k+
I can keep going about it. It offers 4k shoot at 24, 30, 48 & 60 frames. You can use 60 frames shoot beautifully if you are shooting without any stabilization like gimbal to later slow it down a little for smoothness. It offers max 120 frames at full HD shoot, impressive for slowmo video.
It has time lapse, in built slowmo option as well. I liked the video timelapse feature here. Because if you don’t have to deal with thousands of pictures to create timelapse, and results are instant. So you can take sample clip of 5-15 sec first to check your settings.
With the latest firmware update, you also get raw photos, which is amazing. I am yet to check the raw photos because I updated the firmware just last night.
They also offer Electronic stabilization which is good for handheld videos, effective as well. If you are good with after effect, you can use warp stabilizer to smooth the video. it works perfectly.
Some other useful features –
lens distortion correction, white balance, wifi connectivity for Yii app.
Yii color profile is also good if you are not good at post production. And people who love to control how their videos/photos look they can use flat profile for post production.
Battery life is great, I guess it lasts 60+ minutes when fully charged.
Cons of Yii 4k+
Mic is not so great, and if you are using waterproof case, you can barely hear the recorded voice. But good thing is, you can attach external mic through USB, so if you are vblogger & do a lot of voice recording it is handy feature.
No battery charge available, so you have to keep the camera itself on recording to charge the battery. It means even if you have an extra battery, you have to use your camera as a charger to charge it. Troublesome in some situations.
That’s it for now. I am going to Goa for cycling expedition organized by Youth Hostel this winter. so I will be able to put this camera to better use.
